Itinerary

Day 1Kelbagi to Gwand manda 6km

Gradual inclination with forest trail. After 1 km there’s a stoppage point at the temple where you can see the full view of Ghuttu valley. After the temple the trail starts ascending up till Gwand Manda, a small camping ground hidden in deep forest with few temporary huts.

Day 2Gwand manda to Dophan 6km

First 1.5 hours in the morning is the steepest part of today’s trail till we reach a hut at Pobagi, after which the trail becomes gentle and the views of himalayas gets better. Long 2 km straight trail with gradual elevation takes you to our second campsite – Dophan.

Evening stroll till Matya Bugyal and Jagdi top. Both these mountain tops offer a spectacular view of Ghuttu valley towards the south and panoramic view of central Garhwal range towards the north.

Day 3Dophan to Panwali Bugyal 4km

Overnight stay at the meadow of Panwali with splendid view of Central Garhwal Himalaya. Peaks visible from Panwali Kantha are Gangotri group, Thalaysagar, Kedarnath Peak, Chaukhamba and Nanda Devi. Campfire at night with a sky full of stars adds another feather to the Panwali meadows.

Day 4Panwali Bugyal to Kelbagi 10km

The trail first ascends all the way up to top of the meadow and then further goes down towards Dophan. We camp at Dophan campsite and enjoy the afterhours with camp fire and celebration.

Day 5Dophan to Kelbagi and departure

After doing breakfast at Dophan campsite, we move along the descending trail to the village – Kelbagi and the trekkers depart to Ghuttu/Dehradun in a shared taxi.

How to reach ?

From Dehradun it takes 8 hours of drive through taxi to reach Kelbagi village that is the starting point for our trek. We arrange transport on the requirement basis which costs around ₹5500/- per taxi which you have to share with other trekkers. The last big town where you get ATM, banks and supermarkets is Ghansali after which only Ghuttu serves as a small town to fill up supplies.
